Artwork Guidelines for Print‑Ready Boxes

Prepare clean, print‑ready files and speed up your production with this quick guide.

Quick Checklist

  • File format: AI or PDF (vector preferred)
  • Colour mode: CMYK (not RGB)
  • Bleed: 3 mm on all sides
  • Safe area: Keep text/logos 3–5 mm inside
  • Images: 300 dpi at final size
  • Fonts: Convert to outlines
  • Layers: Separate cut/fold/crease/perf clearly

File Formats & Layer Setup

Provide editable AI or PDF files with vector artwork. Name layers clearly: Artwork, Cut, Fold, Crease, and Perforation. Use spot colours or hairline strokes for dieline layers and set them to non‑printing if possible.

Bleed, Trim & Safe Area

Add 3 mm bleed on all sides. Keep text, logos, and critical elements 3–5 mm inside the safe area. Extend backgrounds and images to the bleed to avoid white edges after trimming.

Colour Management

Work in CMYK. Colours may vary slightly between monitors and print runs. For brand‑critical colours, request Pantone matching or a printed proof (additional fee). Use rich black values for large fills if needed.

Images & Fonts

Use 300 dpi images at final size. Avoid upscaling low‑resolution assets. Convert all fonts to outlines to prevent missing font issues. Keep small text legible and avoid overprint on light backgrounds.

Sizes & Dielines

Share inside dimensions in L × W × H. We’ll advise fit tolerances and provide a dieline template for your product. If you’re unsure, send photos and measurements — our team can help.

Export Settings

Export to PDF with bleed included and marks if required. Embed images, outline fonts, and avoid transparency issues. If you need a recommended preset, we can share one on request.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • No bleed or background not extended to bleed
  • RGB images instead of CMYK
  • Low‑resolution images (below 300 dpi)
  • Fonts not outlined; missing fonts on output
  • Dieline on the artwork layer or set to print
  • Text too close to trim/fold lines
